The Psychology Laboratory at the College plays an important role in ensuring the development of a comprehensive understanding of tasks and responsibilities for the prospective teachers/educators. The lab has 78 tests and apparatus/equipment for testing and assessing various aspects considered to be meaningful in achieving the requisite assessment of these dimensions. The student–teachers are encouraged to enhance their awareness of the different aspects mentioned and use their understanding to develop and consolidate the dynamic “profiles” that emerge about the school children, the schools, and themselves. The lab also has in store some of the good reports that were submitted by the B.Ed. students of the previous years.

The role of the psychology laboratory is to enrich/ improve the understanding of the B.Ed. students about:

Classroom processes of learning, teaching, development (different aspects), measurement, assessment, and evaluation and The dynamics of the students, teachers, other school personnel including principal and administrative staff, parents, community, etc.

To acquaint the prospective teachers with various tools for measurement of relevant dimensions of performance (Achievement, Intelligence, Attitude, Aptitude, Interest, Motivation, Personality, etc.).

To develop the skills for administering and interpreting various tests To utilize data to ensure the balanced development of learners in the school system.

The college has a well-equipped science laboratory for use of students under the supervision of a science teacher. The Science Lab serves as a hands-on laboratory where inquisitive minds and science enthusiasts can explore the various domains and dimensions of the scientific world to observe, experiment, and analyze through discovery-based teaching and learning. The lab encompasses a large collection of scientific apparatus, equipment, chemicals, and educational aids to develop scientific temper and critical thinking in students. Apparatus are issued to the students for their demonstration lessons and skill in teaching examination. Students are required to make adequate use of these facilities. Certain rules for use of laboratories are to be followed:

  • To respect all materials of the laboratories and take special care of
    apparatus/equipment.
  • To remain silent and focused while working in labs.
  • All necessary precautions should be taken by sink burner, electric
    points, and gas.

Laboratories are meant to be learning spaces. No student can use the lab in the absence of the teacher in charge.

The mathematics laboratory in the college is a place where every student can experiment and explore patterns and ideas. It is a place where one can find a collection of games, puzzles, mathematical- gadgets, equipment, and other teaching-learning material meant to develop and enhance the inquiry- skills, probing question- techniques and computational competencies of learners. The numerous mathematics aids are used both by the students on their own and with their teacher to explore the world of mathematics, discover, learn, and develop an interest in mathematics. The activities in this lab consist of a wide range, intended to give students a practical experience of doing mathematics and enjoying it too.

The activities help students to visualize, manipulate, and reason. They provide an opportunity to make conjectures and test them and generalize observed patterns. They create a context for students to attempt to prove their conjectures. It is a place to enjoy mathematics through informal exploration. It is a place where anyone can generate problems and struggle to get answers. It is a space to explore and design new mathematical activities.

Learning and practice of music is not only a great skill, relaxes the mind, and is a  lifelong hobby but the research also points to the fact that engagement with music can lead to an improvement in brain development in students, improves IQ and comprehension abilities.

ICT Resource Centre/Computer Lab is one of the major focal labs of the college. ICT, Computer Lab, and ET facilities have been integrated into the college where learners are not only encouraged to acquire basic skills but also motivated to use the same extensively during the B.Ed. program. The use of ICT is promoted in lesson planning and delivery. The students are motivated to conceptualize and develop ICT-related instructional material for the enrichment of their teaching. Besides, the students are encouraged to develop interactive power-point presentations and AVs for their school experience program.

The College has 37 computers with Wi-Fi connectivity, out of which 29 are installed in computer laboratories, 3 in administrative office,1 In IQAC Lab, 1 in principal office, 1 at Reception and 2 in library. The Computer laboratory is well furnished with a server and adequate number of systems with high configuration, LAN connection, interned and Wi-Fi facility both for students and teachers.

Art & Craft education may be perceived as a tool for the development as aesthetic sensibility among learner to enable them to respond to the beauty in color, shape, from, movement. Art  educations and appreciation of one’s cultural heritage may go side by side and reinforce the understanding of each others. Art educations enables students and faculty to fully experience the joy of teaching learning. It enables them to fully appreciate and experience the beauty of the universe and helps in their healthy-mental development. Other objective of art educations are to being student closer to their environment, to them about their cultural heritage and to inculcate in them respect for each other’s work. Fine art would have developed enough motivations and interest among them in the subject. Art education can provide most satisfying medium of creative expression which has to be given due importance the best interest of the society.

This Institution has a Art & Craft lab to enhance students for their art activity. This resource center is also used for conducting lectures for Art & Craft and preparation of painting by the students, for guidance in preparing the teaching aids of different teaching subjects, and for practicing & improving black-board writing. It not only provides the skills, techniques, and tools necessary for professional success but also fosters the talents of each pupil-teacher.

This Institution has a Work Experience Lab which aims at enhancing the creativity of the students. In this lab different works of students throughout the academic session are displayed. In this lab, students make different materials like best out of waste, pot decoration, flower making, candle making etc. Models of different subjects are also displayed in this lab.

The laboratory is very essential for teaching social sciences. A social studies laboratory provides a quick and ready functional environment that not merely provides theoretical but also practical knowledge. The social studies lab of Guru Ram Dass B.Ed. College is set up on the notion of functionality and has to learn infrastructure. It provides a platform for students to share their presentations. It helps in creating and maintaining a much-needed congenial atmosphere for effective learning. The permanent display of important maps, pictures, and charts and constant reference to them by teaching is sure to make the teaching of social studies effective, lively, and interesting.  The laboratory method in social studies involves the employment of source materials, supplementary references, mechanical devices, audio-visual aids, and much other life-like activities to supplement textbook instruction, and to increase the effectiveness of presentation and mastery.

The college has a well-furnished adequately spacious and magnificent Seminar Hall with a sitting capacity of 100 students at a time. The Hall is well equipped with all facilities like a projector, audio-visual, aids, amplifiers, etc. The college keeps on inviting from time to time renowned academicians and intellectuals in different spheres for addressing the students and the teaching staff on various subjects, topics of academic and other co-related pursuits with a view to widening the horizon of knowledge of the students and the staff as well. Competitive programs in difference academic spheres are also organized to give exposure to their talents, potentialities, and overall development of the students.

The college has a spacious multi-purpose hall well equipped with latest display aids. It has the seating capacity for more than 200 persons. It is mainly used for conducting seminars, workshops, conferences and group discussions for faculty, students, peer group and guest experts. Along with all these, a large number of co-curricular activities like celebration of festivals, important days, sports activities national functions and college functions are hosted with great fervor and gaiety in this hall.

The institution has well-established health and physical Education Laboratory which caters to the diverse needs of the students in sports. The college provides adequate space, sporting equipment, and infrastructural facilities for sports to conduct indoor and outdoor games for students. The college has a well-maintained playground for football, basketball, and kho-kho, and for indoor games college provides materials and equipment like carom board, skipping rope and table tennis, etc.

For the development of the holistic personality of students, a well-balanced curriculum is ensured by the institution. A variety of sports, yoga, and recreational activities form an integral part of it. The college has sufficient sports infrastructure for outdoor games (Athletics, Basketball, Volleyball, and Kho – Kho), indoor games (Badminton, Yoga, Table-Tennis), Yoga mats, and Recreational activities – Carom, Chess, Dart Board, Multipurpose Cones, etc.) which are quite interesting and student-friendly.

The policy of the college promotes sports-related days, functions, and programs. To promote sports participation, the college regularly prepares sports teams to participate in competitions at various levels. These activities develop not only their physical well-being but also take care of their mental, social, emotional, and spiritual health. The physical Education teacher in charge is the mentor of these activities.
